Separate Ways See Into light hungry
monotypes
This series of prints was created through a process which results in one print, a monotype. There are many ways to go about producing a monotype. The process I used involves printing many layers on top of each other. I start with my plan drawn on a paper under a plexi plate. I coat the plate with a thin layer of ink (the lightest color first), and then wipe away areas I don't want that color. I print that plate, set aside the paper, & prepare the plate for another color. The act of wiping various areas away starts to create the image. Each image has anywhere from five up to eight layers of color, each layer lining up with the previous one. I really love the subtle value changes one can achieve through this process.
